High-voltage DC (HVDC) contactors are the electrically controlled switches that connect, pre-charge, and isolate battery packs, DC fast chargers, energy storage systems (ESS), and solar inverters. Unlike AC switching, DC current has no natural zero crossing, so the contactor has to manage the arc itself. That is why sealing technology, contact design, and short-circuit capability matter as much as the headline voltage rating.

Demand is growing. Verified Market Reports values the high-voltage DC contactor market at USD 1.2 billion in 2025 and projects USD 2.5 billion by 2034, a 9.1% CAGR. For the broader contactor category, Global Market Insights estimates USD 1 billion in 2025 rising to USD 2.1 billion by 2035. The two reports define their scope differently, so treat them as directional rather than directly comparable.
This guide profiles ten manufacturers that supply HVDC contactors or closely related high-voltage DC relays. HIITIO, a Zhejiang-based maker of ceramic and epoxy HVDC contactors, is included at number ten, and we have written its entry with the same factual standard as the others.

TE Connectivity is one of the largest connectivity and sensor companies in the world, and its corporate history runs from AMP in 1941 through the Tyco Electronics spin-off in 2007 and the rename to TE Connectivity in 2011. In high-voltage switching, its KILOVAC brand is a long-standing reference in aerospace, defense, marine, industrial and electric vehicle applications. The KILOVAC portfolio spans small EV contactors rated 100A at up to 600VDC through larger models carrying up to 1000A at 1000VDC, and newer EV210 contactors that TE positions for new-energy switching up to 1500VDC. Because TE also supplies connectors, sensors and power distribution assemblies, it can support customers who want a contactor together with the surrounding high-voltage hardware.

Its distribution network is wide, which helps with sampling and second sourcing across regions. Its published quick-reference guides list each KILOVAC series by contact rating, voltage, coil options and sealing type, which makes first-pass comparison straightforward.
2. Sensata Technologies (Gigavac)

- Founded: Sensata 1916 (as General Plate Company); Gigavac 2003
- Headquarters: Attleboro, Massachusetts, USA; Gigavac manufacturing in Carpinteria, California
- Core products: GV, HX, MX, GTM and SGX contactors, high-voltage relays, fuses
- Website: sensata.com
- HVDC category page: Gigavac contactors and fuses
Sensata is a global supplier of sensing, electrical protection and power management products, and it entered the HVDC contactor field in 2018 when it agreed to acquire Gigavac, a California developer of high-voltage contactors and relays. Today the Sensata | Gigavac range serves electric vehicles, material handling, battery storage, charging, industrial and medical equipment. The line is organized by application: GV contactors for high-volume commercial use, HX contactors for demanding high-voltage service, MX contactors for 48V systems, GTM bidirectional contactors and SGX contactors for lower power levels. Gigavac also offers one of the broadest catalogs of high-voltage relays, with ratings reaching tens of kilovolts for specialized DC and RF work.

The combination of EV-focused contactors and a deep relay heritage gives Sensata an unusually wide reach across both automotive and industrial buyers. Sensata’s contactor portfolio is also supported by a large global sales and engineering footprint, which helps automotive and industrial programs that need local application support. Buyers should still compare series by voltage class, coil options and sealing type, since the GV, HX and GTM lines are aimed at different duty cycles and price points.
3. Panasonic Industry

- Founded: 1918 (Panasonic Holdings, by Kōnosuke Matsushita)
- Headquarters: Kadoma, Osaka, Japan
- Core products: EV relay series (DC contactors) using a hydrogen-filled capsule contact structure
- Website: industry.panasonic.com
- HVDC category page: EV-A relays (DC contactors)
Panasonic is one of the best-known Japanese electronics groups, founded in 1918 and today structured as Panasonic Holdings with Panasonic Industry as the component business. Its automotive relay lineup includes EV relays that Panasonic describes as high-voltage, high-capacity cut-off devices using a capsule contact mechanism, with hydrogen gas sealed in the contact chamber for fast arc cooling. They are aimed at electric and hybrid vehicles, battery charge and discharge systems, DC charging stations and hybrid construction equipment. The product emphasis is compact size and light weight rather than the very high 1000V to 1500V classes.

Panasonic’s Asia-Pacific product page notes that part of the original EV relay lineup is scheduled for discontinuation on March 31, 2027, so buyers should confirm the current series and availability when specifying parts. Because it sits inside a large electronics group, Panasonic offers the kind of long-term supply continuity and documentation depth that procurement teams in automotive programs often look for. The trade-off is a narrower voltage range, so projects at 800V or above usually need to compare it with the other manufacturers on this list before settling on a part.
4. Hongfa (Xiamen Hongfa Electroacoustic)

- Founded: 1984
- Headquarters: Xiamen, Fujian Province, China
- Core products: HFE and HFZ series HVDC relays and contactors, general relays, capacitors, low- and high-voltage devices
- Website: hongfa.com
- HVDC category page: Hongfa HVDC relays
Hongfa is one of the world’s largest relay manufacturers, with three R&D facilities, multiple factories and nearly 14,000 employees globally according to its own catalog material. Its products cover relays, low- and high-voltage devices, capacitors, precision parts and automatic production equipment for the industrial, energy, transportation and telecommunications sectors. In HVDC, Hongfa offers ceramic-brazed, hydrogen-filled sealed designs under the HFE82V, HFE82P and HFE88P names, plus epoxy-encapsulated HFZ contactors. In 2015 the group acquired KG Technologies, a US maker of latching relays for the energy market, and Hongfa America now supports HVDC relays and contactors for North American automotive and energy customers.

Scale in relay manufacturing gives Hongfa strong cost control and a wide range of ratings. Hongfa’s vertical integration, from relay components to automated assembly lines, helps it keep unit costs competitive while serving high-volume automotive and energy programs. The HVDC lineup is wide enough to cover compact relays through 600A-class contactors, so one supplier can often serve several battery pack designs. As with any manufacturer, specific ratings, certifications and lead times should be confirmed against the datasheet of the exact part number.
5. Schaltbau (Eddicy)

- Founded: 1929
- Headquarters: Munich, Germany
- Core products: C300, C303, C310, C320 and CP/CF series DC contactors, connectors, snap-action switches
- Website: schaltbau.com
- HVDC category page: Schaltbau energy storage solutions
Schaltbau is a German specialist in DC switching, headquartered in Munich with more than 1,000 employees and nearly a century of experience. It built its reputation in rail and industrial applications, and it now markets high-power DC contactors for energy storage, charging and e-mobility under its Eddicy brand. Its approach differs from gas-sealed designs: the C310 series was introduced as an alternative to gas-encapsulated devices, with high making and breaking capacity and bidirectional switching up to 500A.

Schaltbau’s ranges reach well beyond typical EV currents, with the CP series covering 600A to 2000A for rail and other high-power energy applications. Engineers who work with IEC rail and industrial specifications often find its design documentation familiar. Schaltbau also keeps a strong position in rail, where DC switching conditions are demanding and safety documentation is rigorous. That background shapes its energy-storage and charging products, which emphasize switching capacity and long service life. Because its contactors are not gas-sealed in the same way as many EV designs, it is worth comparing coil power, size and weight against your enclosure and thermal limits during selection.
6. LS Electric

- Founded: 1974 (as LG Industrial Systems; renamed LSIS in 2005 and LS ELECTRIC in 2020)
- Headquarters: Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
- Core products: GER, GPR-M and GPR-H high-voltage DC relays, plus power and automation equipment
- Website: ls-electric.com
- HVDC category page: LS DC relay catalog (PDF, via distributor)
LS Electric is a South Korean power and automation company that traces its roots to 1974. It supplies a wide range of electrical equipment, including smart grid, distribution and industrial automation products, and it opened a manufacturing plant in Mexico in 2024 through LS e-Mobility Solutions to produce safety components for electric vehicles. Its HVDC relays are filled with a hydrogen and nitrogen gas mixture optimized for making and breaking, and are positioned for EV battery disconnect units, UPS, ESS and photovoltaic on/off switching.

The product family is divided by voltage class: GER for 450VDC vehicle applications, GPR-M for the 1000V class and GPR-H for the 1500V class. As a group with strong power-system know-how, LS Electric is a credible option for customers who want a Korean supply source. The group also has a long history in power transmission and electrical infrastructure, which gives it application knowledge in battery storage and photovoltaic systems as well as vehicles. Buyers outside Korea should confirm regional distribution, lead times and certification status for the exact series they plan to specify, since availability differs by market.
7. OMRON

- Founded: 1933 (as Tateisi Electric Manufacturing Co.)
- Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan
- Core products: G9KB, G9KD, G9KJ and G9EJ high-voltage DC power relays, plus automation and healthcare products
- Website: omron.com
- HVDC category page: OMRON Electronic Components (Americas)
OMRON is a Kyoto-based automation and electronic components company operating in more than 130 countries. Its HVDC offering is distinct because it is based on PCB-mounted DC power relays rather than chassis-mounted contactors, which suits compact bidirectional chargers, home and commercial storage, and pre-charge circuits. In May 2026, OMRON launched the G9KD and G9KJ relays for EV charging infrastructure and ESS, describing them as a bridge between traditional contactors and next-generation power electronics. The company’s relays rely on arc cut-off technology, and the G9KB-E variant is described as using no hydrogen gas inside the relay, which simplifies safety considerations.

Designers who need board-level DC switching, rather than a bolt-on contactor, will find OMRON a natural starting point, and its brand recognition shortens supplier approval in many organizations. OMRON is also known for its quality systems and for long-standing relationships with industrial and automotive customers worldwide. When selecting a PCB relay for high-voltage service, engineers should still check terminal layout, creepage and clearance, and breaking performance at their actual voltage and current, since these details differ from a chassis-mounted contactor.
8. Littelfuse

- Founded: 1927 (by Edward V. Sundt)
- Headquarters: Chicago, Illinois, USA
- Core products: DCNHF60, DCNSEV30, DCNLB, DCNLM and DCNLR high-voltage DC contactor relays, fuses, sensors, semiconductors
- Website: littelfuse.com
- HVDC category page: DCNHF60 contactor relay series
Littelfuse began as a maker of small, fast-acting protective fuses and has grown into a diversified industrial technology company serving more than 100,000 end customers, according to its about page. Circuit protection remains its core, and high-voltage DC contactor relays extend that portfolio for electric vehicle and industrial uses. This matters for system designers because contactors and fuses are normally specified together, and Littelfuse can supply both along with sensors and power semiconductors. Its contactor relays are offered with several coil-voltage options, including 12V, 48V and 9-36V, and with mechanically linked auxiliary contacts on selected models.

The DCNHF60 series uses a resin housing that the company positions for corrosion resistance in harsh automotive conditions. Its strength is the breadth of the circuit protection catalog rather than extreme voltage classes. Littelfuse also publishes application notes on fuse and contactor coordination, which can help engineers validate a battery disconnect design. For designs that need short-circuit protection and switching from one vendor, this combined offering can simplify qualification, although the contactor range is narrower than that of dedicated high-voltage relay specialists.
9. GLVAC (Kunshan GuoLi Electronic Technology)

- Founded: October 2000
- Headquarters: Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, China
- Core products: High-voltage DC contactors, vacuum relays, vacuum capacitors, vacuum interrupters, AC contactors

- HVDC category page: GLVAC DC contactors
GLVAC is a Chinese vacuum electronics specialist listed on the Shanghai STAR Market (stock code 688103). Its technical base in vacuum devices carries over naturally to hermetically sealed, ceramic high-voltage switching, and the company supplies vacuum capacitors, vacuum interrupters, high-voltage relays and DC contactors. According to the company’s news, its Y-series high-voltage DC contactors are widely used in 800V to 1000V new-energy-vehicle platforms, and GLVAC received a CATL outstanding supplier award for 2021.

The company has also published research with its own high-power device research institute and has signed overseas cooperation agreements, including one with India’s Sterling Tools in 2024. For buyers sourcing from China, GLVAC is one of the more established suppliers with deep roots in sealed ceramic and vacuum technology. Its listing on a public exchange also means it publishes regular financial and technical disclosures, which gives overseas buyers some visibility into the company’s scale and direction. As with other suppliers, customers should request test reports and certification documents for the specific model, and confirm after-sales support arrangements for their region.
10. HIITIO

- Founded: 2018 (established when Hecheng Electric introduced an experienced R&D team)

HIITIO is a younger company than the others on this list, and its position reflects that. Its focus is on broad current and voltage coverage, in-stock supply and OEM flexibility. Customers can also request samples and test data for evaluation.

Featured products. HIITIO’s ceramic HCF series covers 20A to 1200A, with selected models such as the HCF1200A rated up to 2500VDC. The epoxy HCZ family covers 100A to 600A at 1000VDC or 1500VDC, for example the HCZ03-600F-A. Coil options include 12V, 24V and 48V on selected models, optional auxiliary contacts, and OEM/ODM branding.
How the Sealing Approaches Compare
Sealing and arc-management design is the quickest way to understand why two contactors with similar ratings behave differently in service.
Table 2. Arc management and sealing approaches
| Approach | Examples from this list | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Hydrogen-filled capsule or ceramic-brazed chamber | Panasonic EV series, Hongfa HFE82V, LS Electric GPR | Leak-tightness over life, polarity requirements, short-circuit rating |
| Hermetic sealed contactor with economizer coil | TE KILOVAC K250, K1K | Coil economizer behavior, auxiliary contact options |
| Ceramic sealed with auxiliary options | Sensata HX, HIITIO HCF | Voltage class, UL recognition by model |
| Epoxy or resin-encapsulated body | Littelfuse DCNHF60, HIITIO HCZ, Hongfa HFZ | Temperature range, mounting, cost per ampere |
| Non-gas-encapsulated or PCB relay designs | Schaltbau C310, OMRON G9KB-E | Current limit, board-level versus chassis mounting |
| Vacuum-based high-voltage devices | GLVAC | Application fit and form factor |
How to Select an HVDC Contactor
A short parameter list covers most selection decisions. HIITIO’s own guide to core HVDC contactor parameters and its article on global certifications for HVDC contactors go deeper, and the same principles apply to every supplier on this list.
Table 3. Selection checklist
| Parameter | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Operating voltage | Must exceed the maximum pack voltage, including charging peaks |
| Continuous current | Sets the frame size for sustained loads |
| Short-circuit and breaking capability | Determines whether the contactor can open under fault |
| Pre-charge control | Protects contacts from inrush into DC-link capacitors |
| Electrical and mechanical life | Matches the expected number of operations |
| Polarity | Regenerative braking and bidirectional charging favor non-polarized designs |
| Environment | Vibration, shock and temperature range in service |
| Coil and auxiliary contacts | Coil voltage, economizer needs and status feedback |
| Certifications | UL, CE, CB and automotive quality systems by model and region |
Two practical notes. Request the datasheet for the exact part number rather than relying on series-level marketing figures. And ask each supplier for life data at your actual voltage and current, since mechanical and electrical endurance are measured under different conditions. For application examples, see HIITIO’s articles on HVDC contactors for off-road electric vehicles and HVDC contactors in testing equipment.
