Zhejiang HIITIO New Energy Co., Ltd. (HIITIO) announces the release of its HSPD1-1500R/3P and HSPD2-1500R/3P Photovoltaic DC Surge Protectors. Rated at 1500VDC, the two-model series is designed to safeguard photovoltaic DC power distribution systems against transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes and switching surges, covering lightning protection zones LPZOa-2 and subsequent zones.

Product Overview
The HSPD series consists of two models addressing different protection levels. The HSPD1-1500R/3P is a T1+2 combined surge protector, while the HSPD2-1500R/3P provides T2 level protection. Both models feature a plug-in shock-proof modular design with an integrated base, a Y-shaped structure delivering full symmetrical protection across all three poles, and MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) technology. The plug-in module design enables plug-and-play replacement without the need to disconnect wiring at the base, reducing maintenance time and minimizing system downtime.
A key design feature of the HSPD series is its built-in electrical isolation circuit breaker, which supports fault indication, remote signaling, and alarm output — functions that are increasingly important in monitored and remotely managed solar installations. The working status and fault indication are displayed via green and red LED indicators respectively, while a floating switch contact provides remote signaling capability with a switching range of 5V/1mA (minimum) to 125Vac/1A (maximum).
Electrical Performance
Both the HSPD1-1500R/3P and HSPD2-1500R/3P share the following core electrical parameters: maximum photovoltaic voltage (Ucpv) of 1500V, nominal discharge current (In, 8/20μs) of 20kA, maximum discharge current (Imax, 8/20μs) of 40kA, voltage protection level (Up) of 5.0kV, and a voltage protection level of 3.8kV at 5kA. Response time is ≤25ns, and short-circuit tolerance (Iscpv) is rated at 1000A. The HSPD1-1500R/3P additionally carries an impact discharge current (Iimp, 10/350μs) of 3kA, consistent with its T1+2 combined classification. No backup fuse is required for either model.
Both models are classified at Level 1+2 (HSPD1) and Level 2 (HSPD2) respectively, in accordance with IEC 61643-31, GB/T 18802.31, and EN 61643-31.
Mechanical Design and Installation
The HSPD series is designed for 35mm standard DIN rail mounting. Unit dimensions are 90mm × 54mm × 66mm (H × W × D). Wiring area supports conductors from 1.5mm² to 25mm² (single-core or flexible wire), with a strip length of 10mm and a screw torque of 3N·m. The remote signaling contact accepts wiring up to 1.5mm², with a strip length of 7mm and a torque of 0.2N·m. The enclosure is manufactured from thermoplastic material rated UL94V-0, providing structural integrity and flame resistance suitable for indoor electrical panel environments.
Operating Conditions
The HSPD series is rated for indoor installation only, with a working temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and a relative humidity tolerance of ≤95% (at max 40°C). The units are suitable for deployment at altitudes up to 4km, and carry an IP20 protection rating.

The HSPD1-1500R/3P and HSPD2-1500R/3P are designed to comply with UL and CE applicable standards, and meet the requirements of IEC 61643-31, EN 61643-31, and GB/T 18802.31 for DC surge protective devices. The products are also compliant with REACH and RoHS regulations.
